DIY For Your Guy: Beard Oil

Alexandra Heide

After a few months of making my own moisturizer and loving the results, I couldn't help but wonder what else I was going to do with all of these essential oils. Luckily, Kate had an idea:  Beard Oil. We both have beardy men, and the long, dry winters can leave our dudes' hair coarse and brittle. Beard Oil provides moisture and makes hair extra soft and shiny. (We've included some firsthand endorsements from our men so you know just how good it is.) While you can buy it pre-made, you'll save yourself some dough by picking up oilsbottles with droppers and splitting the shopping list with a friend.

SUPPLIES

  • 3 oz Almond Oil
  • 5 drops Apricot Oil
  • 5 drops Lavender Oil
  • 5 drops Tea Tree Oil
  • 3 drops Cedarwood Oil
  • 5 drops Bergamot Oil
  • 5-10 drops Lime Essential Oil
  • Glass Bottles with Droppers
Not a fan of one of the scents we chose? You can easily sub out an oil for a scent you like better or adjust the number of drops you use.

PROCESS

Mix all of the oils together in a cup and use droppers to transfer the mixture to bottles. That's it. Seriously!

It makes me feel like a powerful goddamn business man who puts on suits and writes novels and quaffs wine.
If you’re not in a big rush, let it sit for a couple of days. Give the oils time to blend.

When I use it, I feel like the angel Gabriel is keeping watch over the moisture of my beard.
Just look at that silky, smooth beard!

Before you know it, No Shave November will be here, so why not whip up a bottle or two for your handsome fella?
